Large dark areas are hard for me. I don't know why. Actually I don't have any black and just mix a bunch of my dark blues and reds and greens together. Really in no particular order. I just keep mixing until I get a massive pile of color, and more than half of it goes into the trash. So, I wish I knew more about different blacks. Maybe I wouldn't waste so much paint.

I love this!
I really, really love your work. Especially your technique and style.
I get some very rich blacks by mixing a dark Blue with a dark brown. Usually pthalo blue and raw sienna. I use that combo for my watercolours as well.
Great work!

This is a really nice little painting. It jumped right out at me.
I have ivory black but it just doesn't seem to have enough depth. I greatly prefer a mix of alizarin crimson, viridian and ultramarine blue.
Fine painting, Aaron.
